Why would you even consider replacing a PC? The simple answer is that we’re losing an expensive battle to secure the PC. For the past 20 years, we have spent ever-increasing amounts of money on tools to secure the PC, and yet, malware and ransomware have increased even faster.
The problem with PC security is not that there are 1.5 billion PCs in the world. There are more Android phones and as many iOS devices without causing the same security challenges. It’s the Windows operating system.
Today almost every new application for the desktop is web-based. Many of them are SaaS. But even the custom and proprietary applications written by customers are web-based. You can access these applications from a browser on any device, including Macs and Chromebooks.
- Do you still need a full Windows PC for users who only access a few web applications – SaaS or proprietary?
- Do you even need to give your employees or contractors a corporate-managed PC, if they can use their own laptop?
While we don’t think that the Enterprise Browser can replace all PCs today, or likely ever…we do strongly believe that you can replace PCs with Enterprise Browser for many users – contractors, call center employees, etc.
