Think of how you work today. More often than not you use your phone to quickly check on email, respond to a Teams thread or join a Zoom meeting. Occasionally, you might use your laptop to write a long email, check Salesforce or view a file on OneDrive. These modern applications are web-based. And then you use your laptop for updating a financial model using Excel, editing a presentation with Powerpoint, creating a building design with REVIT, or create a new widget with Siemens NX.
This works really well if you are on a corporate-managed PC and corporate-managed phone.
But it all breaks down if you are on an unmanaged, untrusted, or BYO device where IT cannot lock down the device to meet the company’s security requirements. In the past, these use cases were serviced using VDI or DaaS. However DaaS doesn’t work for phones. With the advent of Enterprise Browsers, you can implement the same workflows most users follow on managed devices.
Deliver email and collaboration using Enterprise Browser on mobile devices. This is the mode which will be frequently used for short bursts all through the day. If the user needs to use a large form factor, you can continue using the Enterprise Browser for a few applications, or the full desktop using DaaS.
