Enterprise Browser by its very name signals a web-first, maybe a web-only world where the only applications that are accessible are web based.
But for many enterprise use cases, end users require secure access to both Web and Windows applications. There are 3 different ways to accomplish this:
- Separate Browser and VDI Clients: The simplest approach is to pick two different solutions for the problem. For web applications, end users use a browser, and for Windows applications end users use a VDI client.
- Browser with HTML5 Windows App: Another approach is to deliver access to the Windows application as an HTML5 application inside the browser. Many VDI/DaaS vendors do this today. The challenge with this approach is there are limitations to native capabilities and performance of an HTML5 application.
- Unified Client: The last approach is to have a unified client that combines both an Enterprise Browser and a VDI client. This unifies the user experience and enables a common administrative paradigm for both kinds of applications.
Workspot supports the 2nd and the 3rd options.
